Research Associate (f/m/d) in the field of ‚Cell-Free Biosynthesis‘
Institute for Molecular Biotechnology (Bio VII)
RWTH Aachen University
Our profile
At the Institute for Molecular Biotechnology we use different platforms for the production of recombinant proteins and secondary metabolites. In addition to plants, we also use cell-free systems produced from prokaryotic or eukaryotic cells. Our work focuses on (i) the development and optimization of new cell-free lysates, (ii) the production of artificial substances that cannot be produced in cell-based systems, and (iii) the optimisation or establishment of new biosynthetic pathways. Finally, (iv) scaling up the cell-free reaction is also an important research goal.
Your profile
- You have a PhD in biotechnology, molecular biology or biochemistry.
- You have experience with the production of recombinant proteins and secondary metabolites, including fermentation processes.
- Experience in cell-free biosynthesis is desirable.
- You have expertise in the characterization of proteins and secondary metabolites.
- You are creative, communicative and team-oriented.
- You have a good command of English.
- You are highly motivated to work scientifically independently and to drive research forward.
- Experience in project acquisition and teaching is desirable.
Your tasks
- Production and optimization of new cell-free lysates.
- Cell-free production and characterization of different product candidates.
- Scaling up of the cell-free reaction.
- Project coordination and preparation of project results for presentation and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Training of students.
